

Kimberly was born on May 14, 1954, in Seoul, Korea, to Hyon Jun Kim and Chu Cha Kim. She came to the United States in 1979, where she built a remarkable life defined by hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Kimberly began her career at the Williamsburg Pottery Factory and, through years of commitment and leadership, rose to become its owner and Chief Executive Officer. Under her guidance, the Pottery remained a cherished landmark and an enduring part of the Williamsburg community.
Kimberly was known not only for her business acumen, but also for her deep passion for travel and her enjoyment of golf. She approached life with curiosity and enthusiasm, always seeking new experiences and connections. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a highly respected member of the Williamsburg community. Kimberly generously gave her time and resources, serving on numerous local boards and establishing a charitable foundation dedicated to supporting community services throughout the Williamsburg area. Her philanthropy and civic involvement left a lasting impact on countless individuals and organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hyon Jun Kim and Chu Cha Kim.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Kao; her siblings, Shin (Tim) Murphy, Bobby Kim, and Grace (Eric Ahn) Kim; her sons, Ronald (Denise) Kleveland II, Grant (Kimberly) Kao, Ryan (Jennifer) Kao, and Brian (Kirsten) Kao; and her beloved grandchildren, Shelby Kleveland, Saleen Kleveland, Tytiana Kleveland, Jesse Kleveland, and Thomas Kao, and Juliet Kao. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose strength, generosity, and spirit touched all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Nelsen Williamsburg, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188, on May 8th at 2:00 PM.
