IN THE CARE OF
Nelsen Williamsburg
Lauren Halle Owens, 23, passed away on August 9, 2019. She was born in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1996.
From a very young age Lauren’s dream was to be a veterinarian. Her love and compassion for animals was endless. She volunteered at veterinary practices during high school and worked as a Vet technician while attending Virginia Tech in pursuit of her dream. She rescued countless animals during her life but her dog Kaia held a special place in her heart. Her smile and sense of humor were infectious: it was impossible to be around her and not laugh. In life, she developed many skills where she excelled in both field hockey and lacrosse. However, art was her unknown talent that surpassed them all. Her use of shapes and symmetry would calm the mind and soothe the soul. When not at home, Lauren could be found spending the day at the beach or on a trail hiking with Kaia. She was a beloved daughter and sister whose memory will live on for eternity. Her smile, generosity and beauty, both inside and out, will forever reside in our hearts.
Lauren has been reunited with her grandparents, Ed and Marylin Schenk and Shirley Owens. She is survived by her parents Kim and Bruce Owens, her brother Mitch Owens, her grandfather Leon Owens, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins that will dearly miss her.
Services will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 24 at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Rd., Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in her memory be made to either the Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185 or the Avalon Center, PO Box 6805, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
