Leah Anne Rubenstein of Williamsburg, VA (formerly of Falls Church VA, Matawan NJ and Brooklyn NY) passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the age of 73. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 50 years Robert Rubenstein, son Adam Rubenstein (Robin) of Williamsburg, VA, daughter Lisa Gerstenfeld (Philip) of Dallas, TX, daughter Allison Rome (Bryan) of Reston, VA, loving grandchildren – Seth and Saul Gerstenfeld, Hallie and Brad Rubenstein, and Elyssa and Jack Rome, and brother Robert Hammer of Jerusalem Israel. She also has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who meant the world to her. She took immense pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, as well as celebrated her friends and other family members’ accomplishments. Leah was a graduate of Beth Israel School of Nursing in New York City. During her life she worked as a registered nurse in Beth Israel Hospital (NY) and Perth Amboy General Hospital (NJ) and later worked as a school nurse at Chesterbrook Elementary School (McLean VA). She was an active member of Temple Rodef Shalom in Falls Church, VA where she served on the board for many years and band booster president for McLean High School. During retirement she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, traveling, attending Christopher Wren classes, listening to the Williamsburg and Virginia Symphonies, volunteering at Riverside Doctors Hospital, and mentoring and hosting students through the Reeves Center for International Students at William & Mary. She will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at Temple Beth El of Williamsburg, 600 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185 at 11 am on Sunday, May 27, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leah’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Hospice House of Williamsburg, Riverside Hospital Foundation (Williamsburg Make a Difference fund or Cancer Care), or a charity of your choosing.
