Obituary of Leila D. Farrin

IN THE CARE OF

Nelsen Williamsburg

Leila D. Farrin, 52, passed away after suffering a massive stroke, September 22, 2023, at a Newport News, VA hospital. She was born November 21, 1970, in Putnam, CT, the daughter of Henry R. and Doreen M. (Williams) Krukiel. Leila graduated from E.C. Goodwin Regional Technical School, class of 1989. Following graduation, Leila began her career in the hospitality industry in Bar Harbor, ME where she met and began a 32-year journey with her husband Craig. Being a seasonal destination, they became snowbirds working in warmer areas in the winter and back to Maine for the summer. While eventually sticking to the warmer Southern California for many years, they finally settled in Williamsburg, VA. They were married in 1999 and celebrated 24 years of marriage in June 2023. After the birth of their daughter, Leila took on the role of homemaker where she excelled at being a loving, nurturing, provider for her family (and pets of course). Leila loved being a devoted mother and wife. She was also very connected to all her family, making it a priority to stay in close touch despite the miles that often separated them. She especially savored the special times when they were able to create memories together on periodic visits. Leila was always scheming a little getaway for the family and her favorite destination was anywhere near the ocean. In her infrequent spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, interior design, and studying natural health. She loved listening to music and was always singing in the house or car to her favorite songs. Leila had a special connection with Eden Baptist Church where she and her husband were married, and she had attended worship services when living in Maine. Leila is survived by her husband, Craig Farrin; her daughter, Cailee Farrin both of Williamsburg, VA; her sister Krista Hazelton and her husband Scott; her brother Michael R. Krukiel; and her nephews and nieces Kevan, Erik, Michael A., Paul, and Mikayla. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00pm. Sunday October 15, 2023, at the Eden Baptist Church in Salisbury Cove, ME. Private interment will be at Hadley Point Cemetery, Salisbury Cove, Maine. Fellowship will follow the service at the Eden Baptist Church Parish Hall for family and friends. Please send donations in lieu of flowers to the Eden Baptist Church ,195 Bay View Drive, Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
