It is with great sadness that the family of Loretta Hinger announces her sudden passing on October 19, 2018. All will miss this beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Loretta was born December 13, 1955 at Ft Dix, NJ to Margarete (Westhoff) and Gerald Swartz. Her mom and dad and sister Margaret preceded Loretta in death. Her husband and best friend, Robert and their three accomplished daughters, Sarah Ann Hinger of Brooklyn, NY, Kathleen Marie Hinger of Williamsburg, VA, and Meghan Rose Hinger of Charlottesville, VA will remember her forever. She is also survived by her older brother, Jerry Swartz of Williamstown, NJ, and younger sister, Catherine Adams of Port St. Lucie, FL and her niece Mary Catherine Spruill (Jim) of Pittsburgh, PA. She was the proud great aunt to her precious Sean and Katie Spruill. Also surviving are her wonderful in-laws, father Joseph Hinger of Oaklyn, NJ, Don and Karen Hinger of Cherry Hill, NJ and Dianne and Chris Geissler of Haddon Heights, NJ and their beautiful children.
Loretta blessed anyone in her presence with her love of life and her family. She loved the ballet and being a Girl Scout leader, although camping ‘out’ was not her favorite event. She was involved in the PTA and many church ministries. She loved babies and helped new mothers in many ways – she led
Friends for Life and helped open the Hope Pregnancy Care Center at St Bede. She was a great decorator and loved the seasons inside and out. She was the go-to party planner for loved ones. She had her mom’s ‘green’ thumb and passed on great German and central PA recipes. She was a skillful writer and THE prayer warrior who always found the right Bible verse or the best music verse to quote. But her biggest and most prominent role these past 7 years was as caregiver to her beloved husband, Robert. No germ was too small, no cough was far enough away, no setback was bad enough to deter her from helping him fight the battle of his life.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23rd from 6 – 8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA on Wednesday October 24th at 11 am with interment immediately following at Williamsburg Memorial Park, 140 King William Dr, Williamsburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hope Pregnancy Care Center, 1315 Jamestown Road, Suite 202, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Online condolences for the family may be made at www.nelsencares.com.
