
After moving to Richmond, Virginia in 1957, she began working at the Virginia State Library, where she met her future husband, Harold B. Gill, Jr. They were wed on June 27, 1959; a union that lasted nearly 65 years.
The family moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1961 when Harold began working at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. After a dozen years as a homemaker, Margaret returned to work, and served as the Registrar of the Department of Collections at Colonial Williamsburg from 1972 until her retirement in 2004.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Gill Thompson (Joe), and her son, Harold (Hal) B. Gill III (Lynn), as well as her sister, Loretta Bolen, brothers Wayne Snell and Douglas Snell, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her twin brother, Ronald Snell, and husband, Harold Gill, preceded her in death.
