She attended Wheelock College in Boston and received a BA in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten in NY schools where she met the love of her life, an amusing, energetic physical education teacher named Pete. They followed teaching opportunities to NH and started a family.
After years of continued teaching and community involvement, they retired to Williamsburg to engage in history, adventure, and community service. Mannie served as the Chair of the Christopher Wren Association; Deacon, bell choir member and Stephen Minister at the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church; volunteered hundreds of hours in outpatient surgery at the Williamsburg Hospital; and drove for Faith in Action. She and Pete were avid attendees at DOG St. concerts, VA Arts festivals activities, Phi Beta Kappa shows and W & M sporting events. Mannie was a philanthropist at heart and supported many local and national charities.
She was preceded in death by Pete but will be with him again in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church Columbarium. She is survived by her son Bill, wife Chris and granddaughter Megan of Faribault MN; daughter Kate, husband Ken and grandson Colin of Yorktown, VA; her brother Bob Cook and his family in NYC; and many cousins.
