Mary "Nana" Elizabeth Johnson

Mary “Nana” Elizabeth Johnson, 73, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in Williamsburg, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Otis Johnson; mother, Mary McGilvary Adams; father, Floyd L. Adams, Sr.; sisters, Evg. Hazel L. Wallace and Nancy C. Hayes; and brothers, James A. Adams and Floyd L. Adams, Jr. In addition to being a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for over 30 years, she was also a Pastor’s aide. “Nana” as she was known, loved to cook for everyone, shopping, helping anyone that she could, spending time with her grandchildren and was very family oriented. “Nana” is survived by her children, Monique Johnson (Reid), Adam C. Johnson, Lynn Adams Byrd and son-in-law, Herman T. Byrd, III and Michelle Adams; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Darryl L. Adams; sister-in-law, Kathleen D. Johnson; and a large extended family. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 4th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A service will be conducted Tuesday, October 5th at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4002 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg beginning at 1:00PM.
