Maurice was born on February 17, 1931 in the town of Maine, NY to Ardella Minnie Haskins Avery and Maurice Desmond Avery.
Throughout his growing years, Maurice worked on farms in upstate NY paying his way through school until he had the opportunity to enlist in the Army where he retired as a Major. After the military, Maurice worked and retired from Civil Service working with the Navy and made his new home in Williamsburg, VA.
Maurice married Betty Payne Avery in 1951 where they were happily married for 70 glorious years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Avery and 7 children Mark, Debbie Doyal, Chris, Judy Allen, Paul, Jim and Tim along with 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
