He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Williamson; his two sons, Mike (Vicki) and Roy (Tricia) Williamson; his sisters, Barbara Nesta, Nancy Withers and Terry Alnor; five grandchildren, Andrew, Steven, Ellie, Katie and Caroline; and many close friends. He was born in Davenport, IA to Williford and Elizabeth Williamson.
Mike was a music teacher, sharing his love for music with thousands of students over the course of his life. His passion for music led him to obtain a Doctor of Arts of Music from New York University. He finished his career teaching Jazz at The College of William and Mary.
In addition to music, Mike was a teacher of many other things. He taught Sunday School at Williamsburg Community Chapel, Jazz History at the Wren Center and the love of baseball to his family. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Williamsburg Community Chapel, 3899 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Lackey Free Clinic, a charity Mike was proud to support. Arrangements are being made by Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
