Minor W. Christian, 82, of Williamsburg, passed away on April 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bishop Arthur Russell Christian Sr. and the Reverend Lillian Christian, who raised him and his siblings. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Russell Christian II and Elizabeth Murdock Christian, and his brother, Arthur Russell Christian III.
After completing his education in the District of Columbia school system, Minor enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He then attended The Federal City College, studying Arbitration in Action at the Labor Studies Center and the School of Education. He began his career as a business agent, working his way up to Union President of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), locals 25 and 32.
In his spare time, Minor composed prayers and poems, having written over 200 of them. He also enjoyed beautifying his property with an assortment of trees, flowers, and interesting gadgets for gardens.
To cherish his memories, Minor leaves his wife Linda Gail Christian; two sons, Vaughan Wesley Christian and Jonathan Omari Christian; and two grandsons, Christopher DeAndré Christian and Trévon Omari Christian; sister, Gwendolyn Christian Reese; two brothers, David (Margie) Christian and Winston (Val) Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Thursday, April 11 at 11:00 AM, with a Celebration of Life Service to immediately follow at noon. He will be laid to rest at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
Vaughn Christian, Jonathan Christian, Christopher Christian, Trévon Christian, Arthur Christian IV, Dwayne Reese, and McKinley Harris will serve as Pallbearers. Friends and family will be Floral Bearers.
