She was born March 5, 1941, to Dorothy L. and Russell B. Weston, of Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY, and Dorset, VT, and graduated from The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and Mary Washington College, VA. After college, she took a job as a researcher with Life Magazine in New York, and a few years later met her first husband, Joseph W. Wells, Jr. They moved to Wilton, CT, where they spent several years raising their two daughters. In 1978, Nancy moved to San Diego, CA, where she worked for the University of California, San Diego. In 2001, she retired to Williamsburg, VA, where she was active in the Kingsmill Choraliers, P.E.O. (chapter BA), and Antique Adventures. She also volunteered at FISH and became a tour guide at the Jamestown Settlement. Late in life, she met and married John O’Hare, and together they enjoyed travel and spending time with family and friends.
Nancy was the loving owner of several lucky dogs and maintained a lifelong affection for animals (with the notable exception of snails in her roses). She was also a lifelong lover of music and gardening, as well as a wonderful party hostess. She is survived by her husband John O’Hare, her sister Deborah Philp, her two daughters, Sarah and Debbie Wells, and three nephews, Scott, Christopher, and Chad Rodi. Her vital and mischievous spirit will be missed, and her memory will be treasured.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage Humane Society in Williamsburg, VA.
