
Pearl Vestina Grosse of Lanexa, VA, passed away May 1, 2022 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Staff Sergeant (US Army, Retired) James C. Grosse, Sr.; son, James C. Grosse, Jr.; and brothers Arnold Lee Brashears and Mark Brashears.
She was an Army wife, caring for her family through many deployments and seven military moves including to Oklahoma, Germany, Texas, Georgia, and their retirement home in Oregon. The past secretary of the VFW in Oregon City, OR. Pearl also worked for Loaves and Fishes, making meals for seniors in Oregon City. Moving to Virginia in 2016, she made many friends, especially at Williamsburg Landing’s Adult Day Center and in her neighborhood of Chickahominy Haven. She especially enjoyed the many socializing opportunities with friends on the river. Her family would like to extend special thanks to friends Karen and Warren “Rosie” Rosier, Nancy Blair, Gail and Ed Skelly, and Terry Clifton for their friendship and assistance caring for Pearl.
Pearl was very sweet and giving, with a volunteer spirit. She touched the lives of everyone she met, and people will always remember her smile.
She is survived by her children, Christa Cook Sinclair (Michael McLeod Sinclair, deceased) of Louisville, KY, Rebecca Brashears (Marina Libro) of Lanexa, VA, Renee Grosse Britten (Brian Britten) of Gervais, OR, and Johnathon Grosse (Tia Christopher) of Vancouver, WA; seven grandchildren; a brother, John Brashears of Blanchester, OH; sisters Michelle Renee King of Prairieville, LA; Leslee Brooks and Lynn Hopkins of Blanchester, OH, Candace Sheridan of Milford, OH, Monicha Love of St. Louis, MO; and many more extended family across the U.S.
The family wishes to thank the team at AMEDISYS Hospice – especially Carrie, Kathryn, and Teresa - for the love and care they provided her.
