
Peggy Thompson Rodrigue, 83, died peacefully at home on July 27. She was born in Salisbury, NC to the late Troy and Mamie Sue Thompson, and graduated from Poquoson High School in 1948. For 30 years she was employed by the United States Postal Service. She retired in 1980 having achieved the position of Assistant Postmaster of Yorktown and Grafton offices.
She was the first president of the Williamsburg Jaycee-ettes, a member of Soroptimist International of Williamsburg, and the Christian Women’s Club.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Joseph M. “Frenchy” Rodrigue; brother, Bobby Thompson; and sister, Joyce Garske.
She is survived by her daughters, Celeste Rodrigue-McCartney and her husband Jack, Paula R. Mitchell and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Katie Rebecca and Kelli Sophia McCartney, and Daniel Michael Hard II; lifelong friends, Gerard and Geraldine Rossner of Penfield, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and loved ones.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 1 at 11 AM, at St. Bede Catholic Church. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
