OBITUARY

Peter Emil Aiello

Peter Emil Aiello, Sr., 83, of Williamsburg, VA passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2021.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathleen Aiello, his son Peter E. Aiello, Jr., (Kathleen) of Williamsburg, VA, his daughter Donna Jeanne Moss (Gary) of Kinsman, OH, his sister Frances Kilfeather of Safety Harbor, FL, and his three grandchildren: Griffin Moss of Raleigh, NC, Kamille Aiello of Winchester, VA and Peter M. Aiello of N. Easton, MA and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Gordon Hampton of Hillsdale, NJ, and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Camillo Aiello and Jennie D’Amato Aiello.

Pete graduated from the High School of Aviation Trades, New York, NY in 1955 and began a rewarding 36-year career as a maintenance mechanic for Pan American Airlines based at New York’s JFK Airport. Following his tenure at Pan Am, he proudly achieved his Associates Degree in Applied Science with a major in Aircraft Maintenance/Mechanical Technology from the State University of New York at Farmingdale in August 1992.

Pete lived in West Babylon, NY for 35 years prior to retiring to Yorktown, VA. There he became active in the community as a member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, VA where he served for eight years as a volunteer for the Young at Heart program. He was also active in the Coventry Community Homeowners’ Association and was a proud member of the OSIA Peninsula Italian American Lodge #2145.

After moving to Williamsburg, VA he joined Saint Bede Catholic Church and participated in its Young at Heart program. He enjoyed reading, watching hockey and baseball, and sharing Italian dinners with his family.

A memorial Mass will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so.
