

Raymond “Ray” Wendell Odgers, 85, born in Newark New Jersey on June 13, 1934 to the late William John Odgers II and Libby “Peggy” Catherine (Wilbur) Odgers, passed away after a long illness in Williamsburg, VA on January 4th, 2020.
Beloved Ray was preceded in death by his father William John Odgers II; his mother, Peggy (Wilbur) Odgers; his sisters, Marjorie Schneider, and Mary Zacharie; and his brother, William John Odgers III.
He attended Woodridge High School before joining the military, and proudly served in and retired from the USAF in 1974. After retiring, he worked for Boeing in Turkey before returning to the United States to work at Marshall Street and Winter Street schools. He also worked as a vehicle delivery truck driver for local dealerships on Hagerstown, Maryland.
Ray was a lifetime fan of western movies starring John Wayne. He also loved music, and was always whistling or humming. He was an avid collector of records, music boxes, and memorabilia. He loved Christmas, and passionately donated to charities for Veterans, children’s health, the homeless, and animal shelters.
He is survived by his son, Ray William Odgers; his wife, Deniz; his daughters, Sevgi Odgers Jones and her husband Leonard Jones, and Sevinc Joy Odgers Hackley; his grandchildren, Ceylan Renae Turner, Michelle Naz Odgers, and Ryan Asik Everett Repp; his great-grandchildren Ryilee Turner-Schorr, Nevaeh Clair Schorr, and Shauna Turner Williams.
Following cremation, a remembrance service will be announced at a later date.
