A funeral service will be held in Bruton Parish Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21, for Reginald Bird Beane of Williamsburg, who died on Saturday, March 15. It will be followed by inurnment in the churchyard. A native of King and Queen County, Virginia, he had lived in the Williamsburg area since 1957.
Mr. Beane was graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was retired from the former Naval Mine Engineering Facility, Yorktown, Virginia after over 33 years of Federal service. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Beane was a member of Bruton Parish Church. He participated in a number of volunteer service activities including delivering Meals on Wheels for about 10 years. He also was a longtime member and past president of the Colonial Capital Club, the Williamsburg Host Lions Club, and the Williamsburg Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
He was the son of the late William George and Ethelind Taylor Beane and the widower of Gloria Sheppard Beane. Mr. Beane is survived by his daughter Catherine B. Jett of Fredericksburg, Va.; his granddaughter Sara C. Jett and husband David Jett; and great-grandchildren Cecily and Jack Jett, all of Stafford County, Va.; and eight nieces and nephews.
After the service family members will greet relatives and friends at a reception at Williamsburg Landing, 5700 Williamsburg Landing Drive.
