He graduated from York High School and studied at Louisburg College. With the nickname Jackrabbit, he enjoyed playing softball in his early years. Both his passion for stock car racing and his talent as a mechanic influenced his love for the time he spent at the track and in the shop. It brought him joy to work on things for others, including cars and houses. He spent many years in construction including owning his own HVAC company. As a believer in Christ, he found fellowship at Williamsburg Community Chapel and served as an usher. His professional experience, commitment to helping others, and his faith led him to building projects with Habitat for Humanity. While he was proud of his accomplishments, his deep voice also projected his pride for his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Baldwin Kennedy. He is survived by his children Christopher (Sarah), Justin (Kayla), Heather (John) and his grandchildren Noah, Levi, Pyper, Layne, Jocelyn, and Emery. A memorial service will be held in Williamsburg in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg.
