He was born in Peru, IN on February 12, 1932 to Frank G. and Esther Marie Smith.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years. He was an avid and loyal Washington Football fan.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Rosa Smith; two sons, Richard D. Smith, Jr. and Rodney Lee Smith; two daughters, Pattie Lynn Hart and Lindy Lou Gray; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed for his love of family, his heart of gold, and his humor.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Richard's life and legacy.
