He was a mason for Colonial Williamsburg, a professional drywaller, the hunt master of Bent Creek Hunt Club, a member of Oak Tree Hunt Club, and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Having been retired for the last 4 years, Ricky spent his days doing the things he enjoyed the most: hunting, working (he always had a “side-job lined up”), lending a helping hand where he could, and spending time with those he loved.
Ricky was a hard worker, resilient figure in the face of adversity, and a person that many people called friend. He was a practical joker with a generous heart of gold, never hesitating to help people out. His sense of humor was second to none and he was as compassionate as he was funny. Whether through a brief conversation or a simple act of kindness, Ricky had an impact on almost everyone he met.
Ricky will be missed by his wife, Belinda K. Williams; son, Jimmy Gilliam (Tracy); daughter, Vicki House (Ralph); grandchildren, Timothy Gilliam, Hunter House, Scotty Tuck, Belinda Hernandez, James Gilliam, Ricky Gilliam, and Tyler Gilliam; mother, Susie Williams; sisters, Wanda Sowers, Jane Saunders and Janet Doyan; as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
A service for Ricky will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia 23188.
