
Robert Edwin Berry, lifelong Williamsburg resident, died peacefully on September 18, 2014, at the age of 90. He was a World War II veteran who later served in the Virginia National Guard. He worked with Colonial Williamsburg Security and subsequently as a police officer with the City of Williamsburg Police Department. He was self-employed in auto sales, campgrounds, and construction, most recently as owner of R.E. Berry Construction and Paving, Inc. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing and watching the game and sharing a good meal with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Waters Berry; sons, Robert Michael Berry, Mark Edwin Berry (spouse, Martha Berry) and by daughter Susan Waters Berry (spouse Pablo Nuesch); and grandsons, Jonathan Tyler Berry and Edwin (Wynn) Berry. The visitation will be held 7-9 P.M., Tuesday, September 23, at the Nelsen Funeral Home and Crematory in Williamsburg, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg VA, 23188. A graveside service will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, September 24, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, South Henry Street, Williamsburg VA, 23188. Expressions of sympathy are requested to take the form of contributions to the Williamsburg-area Veterans of Foreign Wars.
