Obituary of Robert O. Carboni

Robert O. Carboni, a Williamsburg resident for 19 years, died August 10, 2018. Carboni was born in Danbury, Conn., the son of the late Octavius J. and the late Katherine Creagh Carboni. He grew up in Ridgefield, Conn. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Mary Jane Krall, and by three daughters and one son: Robin Castellani (Edward) of Lansing, MI; Dr. Meghan Carboni (James Moore) of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; Karen Kimple (Joseph) of Whitefish Bay, WI; and Kevin of Boca Raton, FL. Eight grandchildren survive. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: Ned (Jutta) of Williamsburg, VA; David (Peggy) of Hamden, CT; Stephen (Alice) of Danbury, CT; Carol Harper (Albert) of Madison, GA; and Mimi Anderson of Norcross, GA. A sister Joan preceded him in death. Carboni and his wife Mary Jane moved to Williamsburg, VA in 1999. In Williamsburg, he was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church and a long-time volunteer at Colonial Williamsburg. For seventeen years, he also administered the book discussion activity of the Christopher Wren Association, a partnership between senior citizens and the College of William and Mary. Carboni’s funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 7 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, followed by a celebration of his life at Kaplan Hall. In lieu of floral tributes, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or Colonial Williamsburg would be appreciated.
