

Robert Donald Corrie, 83, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on October 20, 2014. The son of Edith Vega and George Corrie, he was born and raised in Hempstead, NY, and later resided in Garden City, NY until his retirement to Williamsburg, VA in 2001. He was a graduate of Cornell University (1953) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1957) and served in the Finance Corp of the U.S. Army (1953-1955). He had a long career in banking and risk management in the New York City area.
Bob touched the lives of thousands through his caring commitment to his community, church, fraternity and family. Bob’s ever-present smile projected his positive attitude and his true joy at being with people and serving others. He helped to greatly improve the lives of residents of Garden City, NY and Williamsburg Landing through his tireless efforts on the Garden City Community Fund Board and on the Board of Directors, Residents’ Association, Marketing Committee and Development Committee of Williamsburg Landing. He served the Hempstead United Methodist Church as Lay Leader, Trustee and Treasurer, and the Williamsburg Methodist Church as Assistant Treasurer and Finance Committee member. He was a venerated and adored mentor to many generations of young men through his nearly 60 years of national leadership in the Kappa Delta Rho (KDR) Fraternity and the KDR Foundation, and as the Chapter Advisor at the College of William and Mary and Christopher Newport University. Bob and his extended family spent countless happy hours vacationing at Elk Lake, PA and Boynton Beach, FL.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ann Cameron Corrie; their three daughters, Suzanne Corrie Gamez, Jean Wortman (Jim) and Carolyn Corrie (Robert Tannen); brother, Bruce Corrie (Jane); grandchildren, Herson Gamez (Victoria), Robert Gamez and Lucy Corrie-Tannen; and great-grandsons, Herson Gamez, Jr. and Daniel Gamez.
A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 10 at the Alvin Anderson Auditorium, 5700 Williamsburg Landing Drive, Williamsburg, VA, 23185.
