Robert G. Van Duyne, 89, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on March 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Van Duyne and Amy Urban; his first wife, Nancy Nimmcke; and his brother, Edward, Jr. He began his college career at Deep Springs College in the mountains of Nevada, where his love of nature was born. He graduated from Cornell University in 1949. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1953, serving at the Pentagon during the Korean War. He spent his career at Eastman Kodak Co., for 34 years, splitting his time between Rochester, N.Y. and Atlanta, GA. He retired in 1986 as a vice president of the company. After retirement he and Bonnie moved to Williamsburg, VA. Robert was a member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church, the Crown Colony Men’s Club, the Kiwanis Club, SCORE and Sons of the American Revolution. He was a competitive bridge player, ultimately earning his life master. An enthusiastic golfer, he enjoyed playing at Kingsmill and Two Rivers. He was also an extensive traveler who loved to read. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bonnie; son, Jon Van Duyne (Madeleine); step-daughter, Joni Craig (Paul); step-son, Charles Nichols; grandchildren, Madison (Mark), Genevieve (Daniel), Stephen, and Kirstin; sister, Bernice Whittemore, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service at King of Glory Lutheran Church will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. with a reception to follow at Williamsburg Landing.
