Robin Warwick Hellier

Born on August 19, 1944, in Columbia, SC, Robin relocated with her family to Atlanta, GA. She attended North Fulton HS, the University of South Carolina, and was active with her family in Peachtree Presbyterian Church, where she married Dick Hellier, her husband of 60 years. Robin’s faith remained the cornerstone of her life and guided everything she did, from caring for family and friends to opening her home and heart to others.

As the wife of an Air Force officer, Robin faithfully and steadfastly supported Dick in his career, which included two tours of duty in Southeast Asia, many TDY absences, and at least 18 household moves. Together, they built a beautiful life founded on love, partnership, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family, friends, and country.

Robin is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Col. Richard “Dick” Hellier, USAF, who passed away on January 31, 2026, and her parents Robert Lowry Warwick and Margaret Stevenson Warwick.

She is survived by her children, Richard "Guy" Hellier Jr. (Michelle), Todd Hellier, and Andrew Hellier (Heather). She is the loving "Mama Robin" to her grandchildren, Justin (Sarah), Jennifer, Maddie, Noah, London, and Chloe, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.

She is also survived by her siblings Robert "Bob" Lowry Warwick (Cindy), Jane Warwick Word, and Helen Warwick Rouleau, nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and Bob, the Yellow Lab, and Mozart, the Siamese cat.

Known by family and friends as the quintessential hostess, Robin never met a gathering she couldn't turn into a celebration. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming, and her meals unforgettable. An enthusiastic food connoisseur and exceptional cook, she delighted in bringing people together through food, laughter, and fellowship.

Music and singing brought lifelong joy for Robin and her friends. She was a member of choirs in church, and of the Choral Arts Society of Washington, under the direction of Norman Scribner. Highlights of CASW events include unforgettable performances of Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky suite in Moscow Red Square with Mstislav Rostropovich and the National Symphony Orchestra in 1993, America The Beautiful with Ray Charles and the NSO on the Washington National Mall July 4th, 2000, and Walton’s Belshazzar’s Dream for The Proms 2002 in Royal Albert Hall London with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin.

Robin also had an deep love for animals, especially dogs. While stationed in Idaho, Robin learned to train labradors for field trial, and was dedicated to excellent training for her beloved dogs, which she considered members of the family. Her compassion extended to all animals and reflected the generous spirit with which she approached life.

An accomplished gardener, Robin and Dick transformed every place they lived into a place of beauty. Whether in Clifton, Virginia, or her cherished home on Stutts Creek in Moon, Virginia, Robin cultivated not only magnificent gardens but also communities of friendship and love. She thoroughly enjoyed life on the water in Moon and treasured the peace and beauty of the home she and Dick shared there.

It is often said that home is where the heart is. In Robin's case, her heart was most alive wherever family, friends, faith, animals, and her garden came together. Her love of music, passion for travel, devotion to family, and compassion for animals shaped a life that touched countless people and left an enduring legacy of love.

Though her family mourns her loss, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that Robin and Dick are reunited in the arms of Jesus.

A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188, US, on September 11, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm; light lunch will be served. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm followed by a committal service at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
