

Ronald was born on November 24, 1924 in Clairton, PA and was the eldest of five children. Upon his graduation from high school in 1942, he entered the United States Army, fighting in World War II. His tour of duty took him to Monte Cassino, Italy, where he suffered injuries in a bomb explosion. He was honorably discharged from the military and received a Purple Heart for his brave service to his country.
Ronald began working for the federal government in Pittsburgh, PA after his military service. After many years of dedicated service, he worked his way up to become the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, Philadelphia Region, a position he held until his retirement in 1993. After retiring, he received a Letter of Commendation from President William Clinton. He had earned the distinction of being the longest tenured federal employee at that time, with 51 years of service.
Ronald met the love of his life, Dolores, in 1946. They were married on May 12, 1948 and welcomed their daughter, Susan, in 1954. They enjoyed a loving, happy marriage for 68 years until Dolores' passing in August 2016.
In his spare time, Ronald enjoyed gardening, listening to country music, playing the guitar and was a loyal fan of all Pittsburgh, PA professional sports, particularly Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey.
Ronald is survived by his daughter, Susan (George); his grandson, Christopher Keister (Elizabeth); his granddaughter, Amanda Patch (Joel); three beautiful great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ann Keister, Selena Louise Keister and Jonah Benjamin Patch; a brother, Ernest (Yvonne); and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family in Williamsburg, VA.
