

Spencer is survived by his wife, Lenore Cooper Clarke; and his sons, Aaron V. Clarke (Dorothy), of Traverse City, Michigan, Tyrone Clarke of Los Angeles, California, and George Clarke, of Corona, California. Spencer was predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth S. Slater, of Ocean City, Maryland.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Zachery Slater (Jackee) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Justin Clarke (Jamie), Aaron P. Clarke and Sydney Clarke, of Traverse City, Michigan; Joshua and Ashley Clarke of Corona, California; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Jax, and Noah.
Spencer started out in the restaurant business with his parents who were trailblazers in the food industry in South Bend, Indiana. Spencer, one of the Executive Search Industry leaders, was truly a pioneer. For the last 45 years, he owned and operated S.R. Clarke and Companies, the foundation of the S.R. Clarke brands, including his latest, S.R. Clarke Communications. He touched thousands of candidates and clients during these 45 years in this field. His groundbreaking techniques and teachings to so many fledgling recruiters, created million dollar producers; Spencer taught how to put candidates and clients together in a solid, successful match, treating each as a priority, an incredible challenge. He had an innovative approach to Executive Search driven by leadership, wisdom and a non-stop thought-filled mind.
He was an Entrepreneur, dreamer, and a believer in people and their true potential to succeed.
As Treasurer of the US Navy League - Palm Beach Council, Spencer was instrumental in improving financial procedures and promoting better service to the council and its members.
A private burial will take place in Williamsburg.
