

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Isaac Tyler and Blanche Cox Tyler; brothers, Martin and Raymond Atkins; and his uncle, Austin Cox, all of Crisfield, MD.
A Major General (Ret.) of the VA Army National Guard, he was also retired from NASA – Langley as a former Contract Administrator. He attended the Walnut Hills Baptist Church where he also served as church moderator, chairman of the Deacons, a Trustee and a Sunday school teacher. He received his B.S. from Liberty University, was a skilled wood worker and an avid boater up until his death.
Terry was a devoted husband and father. But nothing was more special to him than the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara; son, Terry Tyler, Jr. (Lisa); daughters; Kelsie Hornby (Mike) and Carla Brittle (Jeff); grandchildren, Courtney Harris, Christoper Tyler (Elizabeth), David Hornby, Brent Hornby, and Joshua Brittle; sister-in-law, Peggy Atkins; many nieces and nephews; and cousin, Billy Carlson.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 30th from 12:30PM-2:00PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA. The service will follow immediately at 2:00PM.
