She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Church and Selma Church (Nyberg); her husband Richard Zawalski, and her beloved daughter, Amy Lynn McDermott.
She was educated at Adelphi University and before retiring to Williamsburg in 2001, Teddi held several positions in education and government administration. She had a lifelong love of animals, and adored the many pets she owned over the years, especially her dachshund’s “Gracie” and “Amber.” Teddi enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, knitting, and birding. While living in the Villages of Westminster she was an active member of several community clubs including the local “Red Hat Society” club, gardening club, and book club. She enjoyed numerous social activities and loved spending time with her friends and family. Teddi adored her grandchildren and loved telling everyone all about them and their accomplishments.
She is survived by her son Brian George McDermott and his wife Michelle Marie McDermott; and her three grandchildren Joshua McDermott, Lauren McDermott and Justin McDermott.
A private inurnment ceremony will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Norge, Virginia.
