OBITUARY

Thomas Lamar Bond

September 3, 1938May 26, 2018

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas Lamar Bond, passed away in peace at his home on May 26, 2018. Tom was born on September 3, 1938 in his grandmother’s home in McCool, MS to parents, Harold Grey and Carrie Hunt Bond. He attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. He married his high school sweetheart, Marie Adele Hancock Bond and eventually they achieved their dream to make their lives in Williamsburg, VA. He is survived by his children, Debra Bond Dear (Ron Keim) and David Lamar Bond (Debbie Bond);grandchildren, Lindsey Dear, Whitney Dear Reyes (Jon), Kristen Bond Farley (Sean), Ashton Dear, Jordan Dear, and Justin Bond; three great granddaughters, Everly Reyes, Madison Farley and Ryleigh Farley; siblings, Margaret Bond Graham (Frank), Judy German (Gary), James Bond (Jean); and his precious extended family and dear friends. Tom had a wonderful career in sales and credit and served as a dedicated volunteer at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. The true measure of a person is the way they lead their life in thoughts, words and deeds. Tom was a humble and extremely gentle soul. We have never known anyone who did not like and respect him. He was a lifelong learner at the Christopher Wren Association at the College of William and Mary, a voracious reader, very patriotic and lover of history. A better conversationalist would be hard to find. Tom’s physical presence with us will be greatly missed but he told us he will forever watch over us. A celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00am at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. A reception will follow from 11:00am-12:30pm. Burial will be a private family service at Williamsburg Memorial Park in Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Vanguard Landing, (Where Exceptional People Will Live Extraordinary Lives), 2133 Upton Drive, Suite 125, Box 272, Virginia Beach, VA 23454 (www.vanguardlanding.org) Online condolences for the family may be expressed at www.nelsenwilliamsburg.com

Marie, Debbie, David & Family

We are so very sorry to learn about Tom.
Tom was such a wonderful person. Although we only knew him a few years, Tom made us feel like we have known him for years. His love for his family was so evident. His kindness to Kevin will always be remembered. He will be sadly missed.

With our deepest sympathy

Dear Debbie and Family,
Although I didn't know your father, I know that he was a great man, father, and great conversationalist - because I know you :) Your love for him, and your passion for life, and your never give up tenacity is a legacy that he has left with you to change the world - just as he did. Know that the Lord is hugging him and your life with him is to be continued. Love you and am praying for all of your family during this time.

Mr. Bond you will truly be missed by all. You have endeared yourself to my family for all time. I will always enjoy the talks we were able to have when you came to visit us while we were on vacation at Kiptopeeke State Park. It is said that the true measure of a man is the Legacy he leaves behind. Your legacy will live on for a very long time. Your son David is a remarkable man. Loving husband, father, and grandfather. If I would ever had a brother, I would have hoped he would have been like David. You and Mrs. Bond raised your children right. Both David and Debbie know how important it is to give back to their communities. Both of them do just that. I wish you God Speed on your next journey Mr. Bond. Know that you, Mrs. Bond and all of your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Deb and Family. I was sad to hear of your Dad's passing. The blessing is that he went quickly and did not linger in pain. The horses are fine but miss you.
See you soon.
Love you lots,

To my Dear Marie, with your sweetheart always by your side, you would remind us how much you loved Tom and all of your family. I am so sorry to have learned this morning that Tom is no longer with us here on Earth. He gave from his heart, which was ten times bigger than any one person's heart could be. Whenever I saw him he would always smile, ask how I was, give me a big hug and then tell me something about you. You two were always meant to be side by side for life. I love you so much. May the Good Lord comfort you and keep you. Love, Debi
