Born September 11, 1947, in Virginia Beach, Thomas joined the U.S. Army after high school, serving during Vietnam. He went on to work as Superintendent for Henderson, Inc.
Ever the outdoorsman, Thomas enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, cutting the grass, surfing, the beach, taking his dog for rides, and sunsets. He also enjoyed dancing and played in a band during his younger years. Above all else he loved spending time with his family. Thomas was an avid sports fan, especially fond of both football and watching his grandchildren play.
He will be missed by his wife, June Carawan; son, Tommy Carawan (Melissa); daughter, Mandy Gregory (Justin); grandchildren, Brock, Sophie, Blake, and Kyra; and his sibling, Pat. He will also be missed by his dog, Sunny, and his grand-pets, totaling six cats and dogs.
Services will take place on at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 8 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg.
