

SMSgt Thomas Vincent Corbett USAF (ret.), also affectionately called “Pop-Pop”, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening 26 Nov 2014 at age 86. He was born in Newark, NJ on Easter Sunday, 8 April 1928 and was raised in Ireland. Returning to the United States in 1950, he enlisted in the US Air Force and faithfully and honorably served over 26 years of service in the US, Europe, Thailand, and Africa. After his military career, He worked for the US Postal Service until his final retirement. He met his loving Irish wife of 60 years, Eileen G Hoy, in England and was married on 14 Aug 1954. Tom was a true farmer, always having a garden and sharing his produce with family, friends and the homeless. He loved to fish and got the most enjoyment out of spending time with his loving family; a family he was very proud of. He was known for his sense of humor and his use of Gaelic phrases. He was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus with St Bede Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son William Joseph Corbett. He is survived by his wife Eileen G. Corbett, his son(s) Thomas P Corbett Colonel USAF (Ret), Michael A. Corbett Colonel USAF (Ret) and daughters, Cathleen R. Hollister, Veronica A. Booze and seven grandchildren: Michael and Ryan Hollister, William and Brennan Booze, Karen and Patrick Corbett, and Shannon Corbett. He is also survived by Brother(s) James, Patrick and Michael Corbett, Sister(s) Mary Cunningham, Eileen Farrell, Rose Corbett, Ester Hart and Sister Veronica Corbett.
Family will receive friends on 3 Dec from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Nelsen Funeral Home , 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd. Williamsburg Virginia 23188. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00AM on Thursday 4 Dec at St Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Iron Bound Road, Williamsburg VA, followed by the burial service at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm road, Hampton, VA.
