Thomas R. Rosche, 82, of Williamsburg, died peacefully on October 12, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Massillon, OH on November 3, 1932. He moved his family to Williamsburg in 1973 and there he continued a 43 year career with Verizon, reared his four daughters, and built a life well-lived, including membership in various civic organizations and St. Bede Catholic Church, where he served as sacristan, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and choir member. An accomplished carpenter and craftsman, Tom generously shared his talent with his family and many friends. His daughters and grandchildren treasure heirlooms built by his loving hands.
Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Loretta, daughters Melanie (Jay) Smith of Newport News, Cindy (Van) Geeker of Tallahassee, Lori (Larry) Davis of Charlottesville, and Julie (Don) Sivyer of Weeki Wachee, FL. He was a beloved Pop Pop to his eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; including Meghan Smith (Shaun) Perno of Chesterfield, Abby Davis (Jim) Femino of Manassas, Alex Davis (fiancé Kelsey Pommer) of Arlington, Katie Geeker (Josh) Williams of Nashville, Ellen and Thomas Geeker of Tallahassee, Hannah and Claire Sivyer of Weeki Wachee, Madison and Emma Perno, and Eleanor Femino.
The family will receive friends at 10 am on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Bede Catholic Church at 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection celebrated by Msgr. Timothy Keeney and interment in the columbarium. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church Commons.
The family wishes to thank the Care Team at the Respite Care Center of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, the Sentara Hospice program, particularly Tom’s dedicated nurse, Eve Yates, and Tom’s neighbor and close friend, Doug Rohde. Contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Respite Care Center-Williamsburg UMC and the St. Bede Catholic Church Building Fund.
