Ülkü was first and foremost devoted to her family. She was the proud mother of two children: Suzan McCorry (Dr. James McCorry) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Deniz Nouri of Gilbert, Arizona. She was a deeply loving grandmother (“Mom Mom”) to Ryan McCorry, Sean McCorry (Katy McCorry), Kyle McCorry (Mackenzie McCorry), Meghan Peck (Ryan Peck), Kelsey Cottingham (Bradley Cottingham), Camrynn Nouri, and Connor Nouri. Her joy multiplied with each of her cherished great-grandchildren: Finn, Jack, Remy, Rory, Tate, Rosie, and Lily, the Apples of her Eye.
A lifelong learner, Ülkü earned two master’s degrees in Education and Social Work, and spent her life serving, teaching, listening, and showing up. She was known to be someone to call in times of need, no matter the circumstance.
A competitive downhill skier, Ülkü proudly earned numerous medals and trophies well into her later years. The slopes were her happy place, and she passed her love for the mountains onto her children and grandchildren. Ülkü loved to travel the world, meet new friends, and form connections that lasted a lifetime. Her warmth, kindness, and willingness to help made her unforgettable to everyone she met.
Ülkü had a deep love for her dogs and cats, who crossed the rainbow bridge before her and surely welcomed her home. Her compassion extended to every animal she adored and cared for throughout her life.
Having joined her beloved mother and adoring husband, Grayson Williams, she will be profoundly missed and forever loved. Her family takes comfort in imagining her now, riding a chairlift to heaven, wind on her face, taking her very best run down the mountain, finally free of pain.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 28 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road Williamsburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Heritage Humane Society (https://heritagehumane.org/) in Ülkü’s memory.
