

Virginia Hudgins Brinn, 81, danced her final day on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Mrs. Brinn, better known as Gin or Gini, enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and loved meeting new people, as she never met a stranger. Her greatest accomplishments and points of pride were playing the roles of Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. With a love for dancing and a deep enjoyment of the theater, Mrs. Brinn, waltzed through life with her high school sweetheart, and husband of 60 years, by her side.
Mrs. Brinn is survived by her husband, Benjamin F. Brinn Jr, “Bud”, her son William E. Brinn, son Benjamin F. Brinn III, and her daughter Elizabeth Brinn. In addition, she is survived by her daughter in law, Ben’s wife, Jamie Brinn and her grandchildren Jennifer Brinn and Justin Brinn.
Gini was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, in 1934 and later attended Ms. Turnbulls School for Young Ladies. Upon graduation, Gini was one of only forty women to attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI- Virginia Tech). Through her life she remained a loyal Hokie Football fan. In 1955, she married Bud and together they continued to be a couple known for their love of dancing and great ability to do so.
Prior to retiring to Williamsburg, Virginia, Gin and Bud spent 28 years in Anderson, Indiana. It was there that they raised their children. Gin kept busy as co-owner of the Wallpaper House, a member of the National Decorating Products Association, and as an award winning participant in nine decorator show houses. In Anderson, she was a loyal Church Elder, Sunday School teacher, and Nursery School teacher at the First Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Anderson Fine Arts Center and enjoyed being a member of the Edgewood Country Club.
In Williamsburg, Gini was an active member of Williamsburg Presbyterian where she volunteered at the reception desk, for the Lenten luncheon, was a member of Dinner Eight, and cherished her Church Circle Eight. She had a passion for the arts and gained great satisfaction from being a member of the Williamsburg Music Club where she was proud to participate in fundraising, establishing Designs for Dining, which provided scholarships for youth musicians. She was also an active member of the P.E.O. Chapter BA.
A celebration of Gin’s life will be held during visiting hours, from 12pm-2pm, at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg, VA, on Sunday, August 7. A memorial service will follow on Monday, August 8, at 11am, at Williamsburg Presbyterian with a short reception following at the church. Gin will be laid to rest that afternoon at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA. Friends are invited but not expected to attend.
