

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth T. Garrett and Addy N. Garrett, and her sister Ruth G. Hodges.
Virginia was born in Newport News, VA. She graduated from The College of William and Mary. She helped start the first C&P telephone office in Williamsburg. In 1970 she became a librarian for the West Point Elementary School until her retirement. She was a Past President of the Soroptimist Club of Williamsburg and Past Worthy Matron of Chapter 103 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a life-long member of the Williamsburg Baptist Church since 1936.
Virginia was a wonderful steward to her church, her friends, her family and numerous clubs.
Her favorite book was the Bible and she truly lived by the verse, “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.”
She loved music, her Lord and her family.
She leaves to cherish her remembrance, her niece, Sandra K Lemonds; nephew, Robert W. Hodges and wife Lynne C. Hodges; niece-in-law Marjorie A. Hodges; and grand and great nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday October 30, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home at 11am with a service to follow. Graveside service will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
