William Joseph Gibbons III, age 64, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. He was born August 20, 1960 in Fort Eustis, Virginia and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1979.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Joseph Gibbons II; mother, Ruth Owens Gibbons; father-in-law, Bobby Wade Johnston; mother-in-law, Jean R. Johnston; and high school friend, Gordan Tutman.
Before he retired with over 30 years of service, William worked as a warehouse manager for Carolina Furniture of Williamsburg. He enjoyed golf, fishing and boating, music, caring and feeding birds and other wildlife that wandered into his yard, as well as anything and everything else in nature.
Beach time with friends and family was one of his greatest joys. A fan of all sports, he especially loved attending the College of William and Mary football games, and watching Commanders football. He also enjoyed visiting breweries and listening to live local music.
William will be missed by his wife, Laura J. Gibbons; son, Joseph Wade Gibbons (Tatyanna); siblings, Catherine Mapp (George), and Helen Henrich (Mike); sister-in-law, Heidi Dwyer (Dan); nephews, John, Mike R. (Irene), and Jack; nieces, Lily and Libby; and his grand-dog, Hudson.
A private Celebration of Life will take place on October 26, 2024.
