Prior to retirement, Sonny worked for Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company and Ukrops. He was a faithful member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, having served as the chairperson of the building fund, a trustee, and retired treasurer. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with the “Lil” Hunt Club.
He is survived by his three daughters, Zenobia F. Patterson, Stephanie F. Smoot, and Almetia F. Hardman; three granddaughters, Jumoke Patterson, Jennifer Smoot, and Addison Hardman; one brother, Thomas “Jimmy” Fields; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, and good friends. Sonny was dedicated to his family and extended family, who will always remember him as “Uncle Sonny.”
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23 from 11am – 1pm at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 21795 Mattaponi Trail, Milford, VA, followed by services at 1pm. Interment will take place in the Mount Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.
