

Amanda Marie (Byrnes) Clark, age 44, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born on May 7, 1981, in Lapeer, Michigan, Amanda lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, creativity, and deep care for others.
Amanda graduated from Flushing High School, where she was actively involved in choir, student government, and service organizations. She later earned her degree in Public and Non-Profit Administration from Grand Valley State University and completed her master’s degree at Western Michigan University. During her college years, she participated in mission trips serving underserved communities in Romania and Bulgaria.
Professionally, Amanda dedicated her career to serving others through philanthropic and community-focused work. She was a valued member of the University Advancement team at Michigan State University and served as assistant director in the College of Education’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Prior to joining the College of Education in 2021, Amanda worked with United Way, the 4-H Foundation, and the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in various philanthropic roles. Colleagues remember her as diligent, trustworthy, thoughtful, and deeply caring toward everyone she encountered.
Amanda’s faith was central to her life. She was actively involved at Northpointe Community Church, where she participated in women’s ministry, the finance committee, and the praise team. She also enjoyed being involved with the Dewitt Community Singers, Night to Shine, Work of Heart, and youth leadership organizations.
Amanda was known for her beautiful singing voice, her love of music, and her joyful spirit. She enjoyed playing piano and keyboards, dancing, painting, drawing, decorating, and cheering on both Michigan State and Grand Valley athletics and the arts. Those who knew Amanda will remember her as kind, compassionate, empathetic, honest, and incredibly generous. She had a unique sense of humor, an ability to make others feel seen and supported, and a genuine presence that brought warmth and encouragement wherever she went.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan Clark of Lansing; her parents, Kevin and Lisa Byrnes and Brian and Cheryl MacAskill; her siblings, Brian Byrnes, Samantha Byrnes, and Kirsten Byrnes; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues who will deeply miss her presence in their lives.
