Bennie “Dean” Hampton, age 71, died January 10, 2011. He was born October 30, 1939, in Hartley, KY, to Willie and Eunice (Tackett) Hampton. Mr. Hampton retired from the State of MI, Department of Transportation (1996) after 30 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Rhonda (1960); son-in-law, Chris Adsit (2003); and 2 brothers, Rick and Ronnie. Surviving are his wife, Juanita “Nita”; 2 daughters, Eunice Adsit of Lansing and Lorie (Don) Lewis of Ionia; grandson, Benjamin Lewis; 2 honorary granddaughters, Savanna & Lauren Curtis; 7 brothers, Bill (Elmo) Hampton of Lansing, Gary (Cheryl) Hampton of Lansing, Harold Hampton of Harrison, Stan, David, and Junior Hampton all of Ovid, and Doug (Susan) Hampton of Owosso; sister, Sybil Stephen of TN; step-sister, Carol (Randy) Snider of Harrison; many nieces and nephews; and special dog, Rusty.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Middle Street, Williamston, MI 48895, with Rev. Scott Gardziella officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
