Byron William Burditt

Byron was born on October 11, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan to Byron Burditt Sr. and Sally Nurminger. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Sociology and went on to work for General Motors for more than 35 years.

Byron was predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 52 years, Jo. Others who left before him include his parents Byron Burditt and Sally Nurminger, his stepmother Eleanor Burditt and his stepbrother Norm Jardis.

Byron is survived by his two daughters, Dawn (Andy) Kroeger and Jodie (Chris) Solari, and the true sources of his joy—his five granddaughters: Audrey, Harper, Francesca, Amelia and Annabelle. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Julie) Burditt, and his sisters, Kristine (Daniel) Fuller and Peggy (Sergio) Poyo.

Byron had a deep faith, generous spirit and a heart for serving others. For more than 20 years, he volunteered as a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Saginaw, making a lasting difference in the lives of young men. He also served as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Saginaw, where he volunteered his time.

Byron’s kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He made the world a little brighter through his generosity, friendship and quiet acts of service, and he will be deeply missed.

Those wishing to honor Byron’s memory are encouraged to send a friend a postcard or handwritten note, perform a random act of kindness, or lend a helping hand to someone in need. You might also celebrate his life by taking a bike ride or enjoying some of his favorite music - perhaps Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, or the Blind Boys of Alabama. He was a man of few words but a heart full of love and kindness and for that he will always be remembered.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett, Michigan. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the service.
