Carol J. Bappert

Carol (Holben) Bappert was born on October 16, 1945, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to Raymond V. Holben, a Major in the United States Army, and Dorothy T. (nee Michael) Holben. Carol was educated in Lansing schools, graduating from Everett High School, and then obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University, with Honors. She then lived in Spain for a year before returning to teach the Spanish language at J. W. Sexton High School in Lansing. She subsequently became a computer word processor for the State of Michigan. She married Conrad Bappert in 1966, and thereafter raised two sons, Charles Thomas Bappert and Christopher John Bappert, in Haslett. Conrad and Carol were also owners of Bappert Farms in Williamston. Conrad died in August, 2007. Carol Bappert died on January 4, 2023 at Edward Sparrow Hospital after a short illness. She was predeceased in death by her spouse, her parents, and her two siblings: Mickey and Phillip. In addition to her sons, Carol is survived by her aunt, Janet Lavy, Versailles, Kentucky, and cousins Nicole Lavy, Lexington, Kentucky, Lynne Willis, Lexington, Kentucky, Greg Lavy, Versailles, Kentucky, and Dean Lavy, Doha, Qattar, on the Persian Gulf, Arabia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Mid-Michigan. Carol would wish to be remembered for her absolute devotion to her sons and to their wellbeing and care. Pastor Rick Blunt will conduct church funeral services at Okemos Community Church, 4734 Okemos Road, Okemos, on Thursday, January 12, at 11:00 am, with burial committal at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, in Lansing. Visitation will precede services beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Okemos Community Church Food Bank.
