Esther L. Roath

Esther L. Roath passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at the age of 89. She was born August 12, 1929, the daughter of Opal and Katherine (Rockwell) Lung.

Surviving are her children, Carol (Chandler) Gumbs, Jerri Siggers, Donald (Annette) Griswold; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Paul Royce; sisters-in-law, Molly Lung and Mina Wakeham; numerous extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jerold Griswold in 1971 and George Roath in 1991; children, Marilyn Royce, Robert Griswold, and Roger Griswold; siblings, Everett, Clare, Marilyn, Wilda, and Max.

Esther was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended and served until the time of her illness. Esther's entire life was a testimony to the goodness and grace of God, and she sought to honor God by serving others. She loved playing piano especially when family and friends sang along. She was an Avon representative for thirty-five years and worked in the health field, retiring at the age of seventy-two.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church, Webberville with visitation from 10:00am until service time. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Fowlerville.

Esther's love for others was a family trait her daughters welcomed me and my family into their circle of love, kindness and caring. even though Jerri and I don't see each other often we will always be there in spirit for each other. thank you Esther for being a great mom, woman, friend to others.
