Halsey “Bud” Miller Jr. was born in Lansing, MI on September 1, 1953 to Halsey and Mary Lou (Worsfold) Miller Sr. and passed away in Lansing on December 6, 2015 at the age of 62. Bud will be remembered primarily for his sense of humor, his love of golden retrievers, his ability to make a delicious grilled peanut butter sandwich, and the deep love he held for his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Bud grew up in Fowlerville, MI and raised his children in Williamston, MI. He married his wife, Barbara, at Howell Presbyterian Church in Howell, MI on May 12, 1973. He is a graduate of both Fowlerville High School and Lansing Community College. After years of working in construction, Bud spent the rest of his career working as a registered nurse at Sparrow Hospital, Ingham Medical Center, and Duane L. Waters Hospital. Bud was a loving husband and father, and was known for being actively involved with his children; he coached soccer and basketball while his children were young. He was an advocate and supporter of women’s athletics, and a passionate fan of University of Michigan sports—a trait he inherited from his mother. Bud listened extensively to the music of John Denver, loved root beer floats, and considered himself heir to MacGyver when it came to solving problems with duct tape. Diagnosed with diabetes at age thirteen, Bud will always be remembered for his ability to endure his disease with humor and strength. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Halsey Sr. and Mary Lou; his sister, Sue Hargrove; and brother, Robert “Bobby” Miller. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Nick (Allison) Miller, Molly (Robert) Stump, and Katie (Rick) Brooks; grandchildren, Nayeli, Karyna, Brockden, and Lorelai Miller, Austin and Kalli Beth Stump, and Reagan, Kennedy, and Lincoln Brooks; brothers Ron (Alice) and Jon (Michelle) Miller; and sisters Carol Kirkland, Nancy Majtyka, and Judy (Joe) Wise.
