Williamston
Herma Clare Thompson was born April 9, 1935 and died Saturday March 19 at the age of 75. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan to Herman and Ann Cook. Herma’s early life included plenty of moving around due to her father’s career as a ceramic engineer. After living in Muskegon Michigan, Dayton Ohio, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Flossmore Illinois, before returning to Muskegon Michigan, she married her life’s soul mate Ted L. Thompson and soon after settled in Williamston Michigan, where they have lived for 52 years.
In addition to various careers including retail management, dental assistant and real estate, her focus was always on raising her three children, Larry, Bradley and Christine who where her great loves and her pride and joy. She spent much of her life involved in the community of Williamston and the band program, of which her husband was the director of bands at the Williamston schools. Her beautiful smile and helpful energy could be counted on at many public functions.
Herma is survived by her husband, Ted Thompson of Williamston; sons Larry Thompson of Williamston and Brad Thompson of Lansing; and her daughter Christine Fuehr of Los Angeles; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home in Williamston, Thursday March 24, 2011, 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the home of Ted and Herma that same evening at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 West Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906.
