Howard "Skip" Paul Stanton III

Howard Paul "Skip" Stanton III, 71, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. Born April 13, 1949 in Lansing to Howard Paul and Helen Irene (Paspas) Stanton Jr., Skip graduated from LCC and later, Baker College. He worked first as a security guard for GM for 16 years before serving in the tech support department of Verizon. He finished his working career with Peckham Vocational Industries supervising and training custodial crews. Throughout his careers, his patience earned him the respect of his co-workers and staff.

Outside of work, Skip loved to ride his bike and later, play pickleball almost daily with his wife and friends. He was an avid camper and was deeply involved with Troop 63 in Williamston, serving as a fixture for many years at the Jubilee and Fireman fundraiser breakfasts. He and his wife spent their winters in North Port, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Patty Stanton and Robert Stanton. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Ellen (Baker) Stanton; his children, Heather (Mark) Graves, Christopher Wayne Stanton, and Howard Paul (Bethany) Stanton IV; his grandchildren who he loved with all his heart, Jenna Graves, Cynthia Thrush, Ava Stanton, Carter Stanton, Emmett Stanton, and Isla Stanton; and his sisters, Debra Powell, Carol Fosburg, and Betsy Caeser.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19 from 2pm until 4pm and 6pm until 8pm at the Family Life Wesleyan Church, 3720 Rowley Road in Williamston. Interment will follow on Monday, July 20 at 11am at Alchin Farm Cemetery in Webberville.

Memorial contributions may be made in Skip's honor to Boy Scout Troop 63 of Williamston or the Schoolcraft Community Schools Band Program.

Ellen and family we are so sorry for your loss. Let all those wonderful memories that you have see you through these difficult times. No one can ever take them from you. Skip is one of the nicest men I have met. We always loved to see him, because no matter where it was he had a great big smile to greet us. Will miss him at Holiday Park and seeing him riding by our place. He was a great addition to the Holiday Park family. Ellen you are as well. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Skip & Ellen always brightened the pickleball court in Holiday Park! It was easy to see that they loved each very much. Skip was a real encourager to me as I tried to learn the game. He will be greatly missed. Much sympathy to Ellen and family.
