Jack Dale Claeys

Jack Dale Claeys, 69, of Okemos died August 22, 2019. He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA. Jack was the youngest child of Reme and Verba Claeys. He grew up in many cities throughout Iowa, Naperville, IL, and finally graduated from Okemos High School. Jack went on to play basketball at Lansing Community College and Adrian College.

Jack married Pandra Claeys and had 2 sons, Jeff and Corey Claeys that they raised in Lansing. He worked for the Anderson’s and Michigan Agricultural Commodities as a Commodity Broker throughout his professional career.

Jack was a very social person and it was almost certain that anywhere he went you would run into someone he knew. He enjoyed sports very much including Baseball, Basketball, Softball and Golf. He especially loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and spent many years rooting on the Football and Basketball teams. He spent many years playing softball for the Supreme Garages team with many of his close friends. He was an assistant coach for Corey’s youth baseball teams throughout the years. Coaching was one of his passions, known as “Papa Jack” he especially loved coaching Baseball for many levels at the Webberville schools, from High School down to grade school. His hard work and dedication will be missed.

Preceded by his parents Reme and Verba as well as his older brother Dick. Survived by his wife Debbie, sons Jeff Claeys, Corey (Sara) Claeys, step-son Jimmy (Kristi) Sokol, step-daughters Danielle (Tony) Rhodes, Ashley (Kyle) Heglund. Sister Rebecca (Larry) Buonodono. Many grand-children: Kendall, Chesney, Autumn, Hunter, Gage, Dylan, Lainey, Cody, Riley and Carson.

A memorial will be held on Sunday August 25, 2019 at LeRoy Township Hall, 1685 N. M-52 Webberville, Mi 48892. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Webberville Baseball Program, attention to the Athletic Director in honor of Jack Claeys.
