A Lansing Michigan native, born November 28, 1946, Jane graduated from Everett High School in 1964 and MSU in 1968 with a BA and again in 2004 with a BFA. A homemaker for 35 years, Jane began a full time career in art in 2004, after receiving her second degree in studio art, specializing in ceramic sculpture. After her graduate exhibit she earned the rare distinction of being invited to extend her exhibit at Kresge Gallery.
She was previously represented by The Schaller Gallery in NYC. Her work is held in several private collections. In 2020 she took over the Red Barn Pottery at Stillpoint in Williamston, Michigan.
Her work may be viewed at stillpointclay.com and redbarnpottery.com.
She took great satisfaction and joy cultivating a community of artists, for whom her loss is immeasurable. The Red Barn Pottery will continue, as she wished.
In addition to her visual art, Jane was an accomplished pianist, fabric artist, and seamstress. She was known for her bright smile, accommodating demeanor and genuine affection for everyone she encountered.
To accommodate family out of state and overseas, a remembrance service will be held at a date to be announced in several months, on the Gorsline Runciman website and social media. Those wishing to be notified can register on their site.
