Jessica Houser Brown, age 49, was born August 13, 1977, in Lansing, MI to Stephan and Virginia Houser and passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026. She was a graduate of Webberville High School and continued her education at Calvin University in Grand Rapids.
Following college, Jessica worked in several roles, including secretarial work and waitressing, before discovering where her heart truly belonged: caring for and bringing joy to others. She found her passion working with residents in assisted living and nursing facilities, where her creativity, and genuine love for people made a lasting difference. She worked for MediLodge and later Aria Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Jessica loved creating moments of happiness for the residents she served. Through her work, she developed a love for crafts, games, and activities that continued to be a part of her life outside of work.
For a time, Jessica lived in Virginia Beach and the surrounding areas. It was there that she married her husband, Mike Brown, and together they had two children. Jessica loved the beach and treasured the beauty and peace that came with being near the water.
After her divorce from Mike, Jessica returned to Michigan to be closer to her family. She carried with her the many experiences, friendships, and memories she had made throughout her life, always remaining someone who found joy in simple things. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jessica is survived by her parents: Stephan and Virginia Houser; children: Brendon (Sayeh) Brown and Jacob Brown; brother Greg Houser; ex-husband and father to her children: Mike Brown; mother and father-in-law: Rick and Cindy Wellons; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Middle Street, Williamston, MI 48895. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
