Williamston, Michigan
John R. Pratt, 68, of Williamston, passed away May 17, 2014. John was born in Lansing on January 21, 1946 to Betty (Schutz) and Ed Pratt. He graduated from St. Mary’s/O’Rafferty High School in 1964. He was a 32 year employee of the Michigan Court of Appeals, retiring in 2002. John proudly served the City of Williamston twice as a City Council member and remained dedicated to the Williamston community. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Patty Niver, who survives him. He is also survived by his three daughters: Beth (Brian) Fryer, Julie (Kyle) Oesterle, and Cathy (Eric) Wade. He loved being a Grandpa to Tim and Chris Fryer, Eric Oesterle, Abby Smith, and Ryan and Ben Wade; he also enjoyed being with Patty’s family, with whom he grew up. Also surviving to cherish his memory are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tom Pratt and Joe Pratt.
If Big John saw you pass his house at the corner of Church and Putnam, he was sure to call out a greeting. He touched many lives with his huge heart and quick hugs; he always made you feel special and lived his life without regrets. We know he would hope you do the same.
A memorial service will be held at a later date; anyone who knew John understands how he felt about funerals. Contributions may be made to the Williamston Fireman’s Association, 1296 W. Grand River, Williamston, MI 48895. Peace and Love.
Arrangements under the direction of Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston, MI.
